History:
3/4/07 -- FVAA vs Goldstar. Final Score: 2 to 3 It was a cool, blustery day but the boys were red hot at the beginning scoring
both goals in a matter of minutes. The second half proved more difficult with Goldstar sneaking one in the beginning of the
second half. There were some great defensive plays as we kept them at bay the remainder of the half. Regardless of the score,
it was a great start to the season. CONGRATULATIONS to DALTON and AIDAN for scoring one goal each!! They both received a round
of applause from their teammates & parents and a gift certificate to BoJangles! CONGRATLUATIONS also goes to Wesley for a
great performance in goal!!
3/11/07 -- FVAA vs TUSA Boca Jrs.Final Score: 5 to 5
It was another exciting game at Fleming Loop with lots of scoring, defensive plays and a little confusion to boot! The boys
came out of the gate with two scores in the first ten minutes. There was some confusion about a goal that was scored by Jake
with assists from both Andres and Alex . This goal was called offsides however two of the refs marked it as a goal and so
the score remained at halftime - 3 to 2. Wesley played goalie for the first half and Aidan came in at goal in the second
half. There was alot of good scoring and teamwork. CONGRATULATIONS to Aidan-Cole for a great goal starting with a corner
kick. CONGRATULATIONS to Cole-Aidan for a beautiful down the sideline, cross to goal. CONGRATULATIONS to Alex, Andres, Jake
for a true team effort that started with Alex winning the ball, passing the Andres who then passed up to Jake to put it in
the net. CONGRATULATIONS to Zach for a truly stunning display of footwork and an unassisted goal! CONGRATULATIONS to Dalton-Zach
for a goal that started with a well placed cross just when we needed most -- in the final minutes of the game!!! We also recognized
two players for BEST DEFENSE. CONGRATULATIONS to Dominic and Casey. Thanks for your speed and dedication when defending
the goal!!
3/18/07 vs Triangle YMCA. Score 5 to 1. Good news! The FVAA U11 Flash had their first win of the season and it's was a decisive
one at that! The boys came out strong and kept up the pressure for the entire game. Wesley and Aidan shared the goalie position
with only one ball getting by (and if truth be told -- it was a beautiful penalty kick that no one could have gotten!!) The
first goal scored by the Flash started with a pass from ALEX to ZACH. Minutes later, an unassisted goal was by Zach put us
up 2 to 0! The third goal of the day was a cross from JAKE to DALTON. ALEX kept up the momentum with a wonderful pass to WES
who put it solidly in the goal. The final score of the day was a wonderful example of staying with it -- no matter what!
It was sheer mayhem in front of the Y's goal with almost each of the red team members putting their foot on the ball but in
the end it was DYLAN who put it in the net!! The team also recognized additional offensive and defensive players including:
Trevor, Carter, Casey, Dominic, Congratulations to everyone on a great team effort!
3/25/07 - This was a full day of soccer with two games and a hot dog cookout! The first game was against the Oxford Pumas
which ended in a 2 to 1 win for the Flash! It was a defensive showdown. The first goal for the Flash was scored by DOMINIC
to DYLAN and then in the final seconds of the game ZACH scored the final and game winning goal.
The second game of the day was against the Chatam Paladins who were a worthy competitior but were short on players -- playing
with only 7 at a time. We held them to a shut-out with great teamwork both offensively and defensively. All three of the
goals in this game wer
